i can tel u wat i kno...
rating for a player begins at 1600
if two players both wit rating 1600 play against each other, the one who wins wil reach at 1608 and the one who loses declines to 1592.
if a player wins against a higher rated player, he gains more points and the player losing to the higher player loses lesser points and vice-versa.

if same rating (eg. 1600 Vs 1600), +/- 16 pts win/loss. 100 pts diff (1500 Vs 1600) +/- 20/12 pts etc. Max is 400 pt diff +/- 32/1. Above 400 pts, higher rater player gets 1 pt for win and -32 for loss, and lower rated player gets 32 for win and -1 for loss.
