      that improving in arena is necessary to improve in arabia...

      you can improve your arabia skills by
      improving micro, eco control, map control, and strategy making.
      Arena helps in all or these

      But you can do this by playing almost any map so arena is not a necessity.
      playing with galleys can give you best idea about how to fight with archers/ CA in plain land. etc...

      imo arab and arena are not related at all, except for eco/army micro part. which is common to all maps in aoc.

      Arab is speed map, u have to be fast and u have to see what ur opponents doing. There are few variations in unit/civ choices that work in arab. Ara is open map most of the time. Going knts win u 8/10 games.

      Arena is totally different, its a closed map. Depends heavily on strat choice, unit choice, and counter unit etc. Monks are OP in arena, u can make UU since most times u will make a castle with ranged unit.

      If you are new, i'd suggest play arab, its good to start off with, gives a good feel for the game etc etc. Once u know what works and how, u can start playing arena.

      Master the pop 22 first^^

      now alive has invented 21 up(roxx for sc rush,different build order though)...

      i do 27 pop feudal and 29 pop castle in arena

      not 22...

      arena and arabia are 2 opposite maps u can say , arabia on one side is a fighting map in which no1 can win [in almost cases] if u r booming n going c age not fighting in fedual age , n other side in arena it tests ur booming+defense skill or ur aggressiveness in castle age [though u can fedual rush too if the map is that way]. in arabia ur army control is much more important than ur eco even daut dont see on his idle villy from tc when his army is fighting. but in arena if ur eco is gud u can make a come back easily

      AoC = Strategy, Micro and Speed.
      Arena needs more strategy than arabia. Arabia needs more speed. Both need equal micro, maybe arena needs slightly more.

      So they are kinda opposite in a way - mastering one cannot help the other in any special way. The 2k's advice also seems to fit in because he seems to suggest that work on either of srategy or speed at one time. Then go for the other.

      ^^arena needs more military micro, less boom. boom almost never wins at higher levels of play. Its a small map, so with big boom , there is no place to run and rebuild and make army, unlike ara, where u can find many spots to rebuild and raid him etc.

      i think any 14/15xx can do 21 pop by putting all vills on food after initial 3 wood

      but then you'll have shortage of wood by the time you hit feudal xD

      its very difficult to do 21pop by doing loom @10th or11th
      so to do 21pop best thing is to loom at the end of 21pop n then u can hit fedual easily mostly
      even i have done 20 pop fedual in arabia wid late loom sometimes u get rox resources Smile

      I'm sure no 14xx can do 21 pop or even 15xx for that matter.
      Pop 21 dosen't mean clicking up 21 pop at anytime, its about reaching fued at 9:40 / 9:45.

      A good pop 21 will have resources for wood up / farm up and a stable and be able to make scouts continuously, thats all 19+ / 2k skill unless your mong and got easy hunt.

      i think both 22 pop up and 21 pop up are first started by chris...
      (if u watch recs from around 2002, chris started to bring nearer boar without looming and then farther boar with loom to do 22 pop up).

      I am waiting for some1 to invent full dark age fight with celtic militias.
      (u can actually go a forward barrack around pop 15 and then go on full militia, walling opp. resources as well.
      but u will need 2k scouting skills for that.

      I've seen halen doing 20-21 pop too with huns on ara. Alec ([RVK]Drago_) is a good deer pusher, I've seen in his old games used to go 21 pop + scouts all the time.
